Brian Wilson

Surfer Girl***Mr. Wilson is a complex soul, with a God given gift of musical composition. Not to mention his falsetto vox.

Some of the Beach Boys material is not up my alley; But then again, with a song like this...It's enough to melt the coldest of hearts. Mr. Wilson is a true genius; He doesn't surf, but his impact on music is iconic. A melodic legend...Yes. An enigma...Yes. A wonderous eternal soul.

Thank you Brian, we love your work.Godspeed to Dennis & Carl...*

Everyone's Gone To The Moon

Jonathan King***This song has such a melancholy atmosphere, it's like a dream. The string arrangement is superb.;It would be great if there was music around these days; That have the ethereal ambiance of this tune.

When I was a a child, I used to have dreams about this song. I always end up on the beach in my dreams; Looking for someone whom I cannot see...*

Dancing In Heaven

Q-FEEL-(Orbital Be-Bop)*** British Techno via New Wave early 80's ; Is my data lacking...perhaps so. But back in the day & in the present for that matter, this cut has a great feeling. Brings back memories of love run amuck ; Which seemed to be frequently happening to me...¡Ay, caramba!...*

The Hollies

I'm Alive*** Here we go again; Another British band with highly listenable melodic components.

I've read that John Lennon, didn't care for the Hollies, because he saw them as one of the more blatant attempts to sound similar to The Beatles.

All that aside, to me this is about their best song...The Hollies I mean.

Ironically, I'd react to a comparison of The Beatles, as one of the highest compliments one could hope for. Ah...But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head

The B.J. Thomas version of this song, is as timeless & wonderful as any tune can be. Other than Lennon/McCartney, I cannot recall anyone that's had more of an impact on contemporary composition than Mr. Bacharach. He has a majestic musical gift.

Hal David's lyric, is far from mushy; I'm certain that many people have felt this way, all of their life. Almost ironically, beyond words.

Godspeed Sirs ...*

Crying In The Rain

The Everly Brothers***Well, let's see; It's quite possible that the brothers had a strong impact on the Beatles; From a vocal standpoint. Double harmonies & such.

In turn, you might say that the Everly Brothers were a tad more American sounding, in so far as their roots. The Beatles on the other side of the coin, had a British influence, for lack of better words.

In the long run, I find vocal harmonies to be beautiful. But, what do I know anyway...*

Duran Duran

(The Wedding Album)*** Contains some cuts, that one could not ignore. Perhaps the insertion of Warren Cuccurullo on guitar had something to do with it; But with songs like "Come Undone" & "Ordinary World" ; It was quite obvious to me, that the band at it's core, really has a brilliance all its own; Quite Stunning in fact...* But, what do I know anyway...*

The Kinks

Tired Of Waiting***The Davies brothers, Ray & Dave. Beyond the British Invasion. Ray's reflective lyricism, has always remained stupendously poignant...Godspeed Davies Brothers...*

Kip Winger

Headed For A Heartbreak*** The song & video are extremely adroit & magnetic, from my vantage point.

Additionally, Mr. Winger's album "Songs From The Ocean Floor"* ; & in particular the cut Resurrection* ; I find to be effulgent & entrancingly expressive... ; Which means I like it a lot.

Godspeed Mr. Winger...*

Elvis Costello

Mr MacManus is so prolific as a composer...it's preposterous.

The song Clubland* has an atmosphere & arrangement simultaneously dextrous & cinematic. Where does he come up with this stuff... ; Just phenomenal.
