E Ku'u Morning Dew

Keola Beamer***A fine cover by iLaNdGuRLL of the Keola Beamer classic. She pretty much stays with the original & does a great rendition of it.

The first time I heard this song, it made me feel something deep down in heart & soul. My soulmate lives half the way to Hawaii in another country by birth. So, when I hear this tune, it always reminds me of our courting haunts & feelings toward each other.

God Speed iLaNdGuRLL...You are very beautiful. May you have good health, joy & prosperity. I will never forget you...*

Hey Girl

The Osmonds-Written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. Quite surprised when I remembered this song. It's really very good. The vocal harmonies by all of the brothers, are on the ball.

When I was a kid, I just adored this tune, fantasizing about my crushes at the time. The music really made me feel that I was truly sincere about my young love, it was real. The only problem was the my love was unrequited. A great recipe for melancholy.

So although the years have come & gone, I still have the romantic upon my sleeve. All that it ever got me was a kick to the curb. Plus it also payed a lot of psychologists & psychiatrists a lot of bread.

I still remember to this day. I was never one to ever forget. I never knew that being a romantic was ever this painful. Unfortunately, this condition has never changed. I continued in this manner for many many years. I guess as the song goes, Love hurts...*

Spill The Wine

Eric Burdon & War***This is one great darn song. Eric looks great. They meld the music together in a very adroit manner. I'm not so sure as to when this was recorded. I'd sure like to listen to more of this material with Eric & War...

I remember when I bought the single & the paper outer sleeve looked like someone had spilt wine all over it. Clever marketing ; I wonder if the Animals ever made a movie. Someone said they did. More research is needed. Bear with me. GodSpeed Sirs...*

A Private View

Bill Nelson***What a confounding nebula. What a juggernaut. What doth this man of artist beautific consume...Surely no drug. It's already in his head. No chemical. It's there, in your head.

So many years & memories does this brilliant chap enlighten me with. It's like you don't need the drug anymore. Life is the drug. Love is the drug-(Sorry Brian)-It is truly God intoxication time Sir...you leave me breathless.

I have followed you wherever the music has taken you. We are both of the same country. Both of the same name of wives. Even the same country they are from.

I tried to see you at The Whiskey on sunset. Back in the day. After the first solo album.I made it there, then I went upstairs to have a drink. You came on stage. I was so mezmerized by your music, I forgot to even look or make it back down the stairs to the front of the stage.

I have always dreamt the same dream. But I have shown up on radar a bit later. Godspeed Sir...*

This Boy

The Beatles***A torch song ballad A...; Three part harmonies, yet the way that they sing it is so much better than by the book 1-root-3-5...They use seconds & other such stuff.

Just music talk. Essentially, when George brings the third part of the vocal in, it's quite unique, the way it's done. Not mushy, but more of their instinctive ability to do things unorthodox. Frankly, it is roughly a trait that one would find more on British & Irish vox : As compared to American vox.
[Vox is a word referring to vocals].

Some American artists like Brian Wilson for example, take this theory & throw it out the window. Of course it is obviously plain to say that Mr. Wilson is no doubt a brilliant composer...:

There's my two cents. But What Do I Know Anyway...*

I'll Get You

Paul McCartney***Another great John Lennon song. But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Paul does a fine job with this particular band line-up. Adroit, warm & true to the roots of the song. Mr. McCartney is a brilliant artist, so what else is new...; I much rather listen to this set, than listen to Wings at their peak, around the Band On The Run period. I was there. I heard it.

Your Body Is A Wonderland

John Mayer***This bit of words will be a bit different than the usual. I don't know this fellow from Adam. I will be objective here, but some might find my words odd. So what else is new...

I had heard this song once in a live performance on T.V. I remember the audience, especially the female listeners as rather transfixed. I can only surmise that a lot of girls might find John to be a good bet as a boyfriend/lover/husband. It was something that caught my attention. The audience reaction I mean.

I do think that this song is really a great song & his choice of lyric & conceptual ideas are quite unique. It's a fine flowing warm charismatic tune.

The next few times I saw Mr. Mayer on T.V. again, he seemed as a man of many moods, dark & light. He as I understand likes the blues. His guitar playing differed quite a lot when he went in that direction. For me, his genre jump left me blank. But to be fair, I haven't listened to any of his stuff save this song, which I really like.

But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Want To Be With You

The Moody Blues***A fine passionate song off of a great album. They have many great albums & music. With such a prolific body of work, their diversity is startling...Iconic on a global level, far ahead of most others, a band with vision & timeless beautiful melodic content.

The heart of the Moody Blues is Justin Hayward & a tip of the hat to John Lodge. They also form another group between the two called the Bluejays.

They were one of the first bands to really integrate orchestral music with Rock-Pop.In 1967 they released "Days of Futures Past". A brilliant work at about the same time that The Beatles released Pepper, with the help of George Martin co-producing. Godspeed Sirs...*

I'll Get You

The Beatles***The best writing duo in history...of course. Brilliant & visionary, way ahead of there time. The music lives forever as does the soul. This cut will be popular in 2000 years from now. It's timeless.

It's also one of my favorites of theirs'. The chromatic changes with major & minor cadence, the melodic structure ; mainly that's what does it for me. Not so much the words, but any aspect of love, & there are millions, is fine in my book...*

Someday

Moby Grape***What an excellent band that many are unaware of.. This is another example as to the quality of creativity & music from the 20th century ; 1960's-1980's...

How so the tides have changed from today to the years from the past. The New Is Old...The Old is Strikingly New...*

What Am I Doing Here?

Justin Hayward/Moody Blues***Digging through the prolific body of work that's The Moody Blues & one of their obvious vocal focal points, seems to always lead me to Justin Hayward. It's not just his vox, but also his uncanny abilities as songwriter par excel lance. I think that is French.

I can't say I blindly like everything The Moody Blues Have done, because there is certainly a wide range of influences & other band members.

Beside all of that, I just can't resist a minor chord married with a major chord. A lot of Rock bands & especially of American extraction seem to strictly use major configurations in their songwriting. It's not really my cup of tea, because of my influences & family background.

At any rate, have a listen to this one & as I have said in the past & no doubt in the future : But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Walk Right Back

The Everly Brothers are so so good it's not funny. I love the double harmony vocals.

I must say that I'm not the only one who has been influenced by The Everly Bothers vox style. The Beatles are right up there, especially in the 63-through-66 time period.

So, I'm going the same way as I always was going to do any. Double harmonies please, for the most part. But What Do I Know Anyway...*

I think I'm Go Go

Squeeze*** a great British band both live & on record. I've seem them many a time. Perhaps some people have overlooked anything before 1990.

It's a shame really, because for the past save hip-hop, nothing has really happened in the last 20 years.

So as the old "major label"brick & mortar buildings collapse from 4 to 3, as the new technology has rolled out, many a band that still survives might recognize one thing as the listener has realized also.

The New Is Old...The Old Is Strikingly New. But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Waterfall

Wendy & Lisa***Who influenced who...Much more than you would ever believe.

The Revolution period was a high point of the purple bands music. You wanna listen to the heart & soul of it all ? The buck stops right here. No disrespect, I'm a fan of both...*

Run To You

Whitney Houston***OK...I didn't think that she had it in her. But I must admit I was wrong.

This song is lovely. If I keep listening to it, my eyes drop tears into the ocean. It's not so much the lyric as it is the melody & her voice. Besides, being a Leo, she knows she's attractive...*

The Shoes

Tomorrow Night***I caught this about the same time that the band 20/20 & The Plimsouls were hitting La Sunset Strip, In good ol' Holly-Hood California.

I think this cut is a Power Pop chunk of fine chops sirs. It tends to blow ones socks off.

This is a fine example of a wondrous cut, a good look & well, this is what happens to bands when they go with The "major labels"; Who are crumbling over in the corner right now.

Take into mind the year that this album was created. The New Is Old...The Old Is Strikingly New...* But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Love Is All Around

The Troggs***What can be said of this song...It's the best thing they ever did.

The visual seems fine. Somehow, I'd have to dig deeper for any other gems. Wild Thing...No ; But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Ryuichi Sakamoto

The Wuthering Heights-(Trio World Tour 96)***I'm not at all versed in classical music; But I would refer to this as New Classical...

Again the atmosphere starting with darkness & moving up to a faint color aura with candles, always makes for a great listening experience; as in theaters.

Something is very magnetic to me about Mr. Sakamoto's musical art. It has some subjective opinions from which I cannot nor would not want to ever change. So let us just say that Ryuichi
Sakamoto's music is in its own way, beautiful...*

Revolt Into Style

Bill Nelson & his former band Be Bop Deluxe, are one of the most under-rated bands the music world has ever come across.

His body of work is a plethora of brilliant, eclectic, visionary sonic-art. Mr. Nelson is a musical enigma, that continues to radiate outwards & upwards...*

Without great artists in the world of modern music, what would be left ? About what you for the most part are hearing in the brick & mortar world ; That lies crumbling in the face of the new technology revolution of emancipation & musical freedom. But What Do I Know Anyway...*
