Fool On The Hill

The Beatles***Pictured John to the left, Paul to the write...; Track on the Magical Mystery Tour, the album & film. First screened on Brit Television in Black & White...*

Surrealism imagined...; O well...Paul filmed this title in France. I have to say, I think it's a fine bit of visionary mix. A brilliant song. Love is such a powerful presence..;

What words can one say...; Practice The Presence; But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Spartacus - Love Theme

A bit of a detour tonight, But What Do I Know Anyway...This was a great movie. It was based on a true story...er...history. It was the first movie in a theatre I had ever seen. I don't really know why I got dragged into the big dark room.

As a fact, Kirk Douglas is a great actor; Later viewings as an adult at various stages of development, lead me to one conclusion. This Love theme of the original film, is beautiful.

So have a listen...open your ears up a bit for this one & tell me it's not beautiful...*

Angel Eyes

Tamara Walker*** I was watching a movie this evening, with the great actor James Caviezel. As the credits rolled at the end of the movie, I heard a beautiful song. At first I thought It Was J.LO, cause she was in the film...

Anyway...I've posted the song here tonight & hope some of you like. I have never heard of the artist, but so what...*

Pleasant Valley Sunday

The Monkees***Written by Carol King & the other guy, I can't remember his name. Another example of a fine tune, with the poor Monkees having nothing to do with it save some vocals.

I used to think that the song was written about the San Fernando Vally, where I grew up. Apparently it's about somewhere in New Jersey...Either way It's summer Americana to me...*

A Little Bit Me A Little Bit You

The Monkees*** So I'm digging at the bottom of the barrel on this one.

This song was written by Neil Diamond ; Has an uncanny similarity to Cherry Cherry-Mr. Diamond.

The monkees actually has some astute songwriters, as the above & The duo of Boyce & Heart.

In actuality, as has been said in the past, is that the studio recordings didn't have much to do with The Monkees. Other that Vocal, there wasn't much else.

But with an astute businessman like Don Kirshner & a weekly T.V. show on the air for about three years, you couldn't say the business end was as anywhere were stupid.Ad to that the extensive ancillary merchandising was in full gear.

When the band opted to go it alone as a legitimate entity, that's the place whee the ship sank. Besides all of the comebacks through the years.

But there were some good songs & it's that that I've decided to post some of their catalog. But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Why You Wanna Break My Heart

Dwight Twilley***Since I don't have a boxed set yet...I'll just throw everything I can find Of D.T.

Notice Phil Seymour to the left, God Bless Him. A great musical artist. Both guys from Tulsa, like the band 20/20 ; Back at the time, it really was one heck of a scene on the Sunset Strip. I was there & on the periphery myself & grew to a certain commonality with several of the bands. You really had to be there to appreciate it...

So I never liked Bandstand either & the audio is too top heavy, in whatever conglomeration be it in a group or solo...Another fine tune.

Back in the day, if they couldn't push Mr. Twilley to the top, Then there was something very wrong on the business end. This is why you see the old walls tumbling....Technology has put a Karmic fix on them & things are never going to be same in the Muse Biz anymore...*

Lucille has messed my mind up

Frank Zappa***A complete enigma of musical virtuosity, wrapped in a truly unorthodox package of art.

No one could be like him, for the mold was cast away after the first test run, out to the blue-green tiny orb, in sector nine, galaxy 6201 or some such.

His musical genius lives on forever as does he himself. He might argue with me on that, ah but a touch of semantics only.

This particular song is my favorite; It's the mesh of singer, beat, guitar work, the whole piece of the tune. It's unlike some of his other work, but My My, A large musical portfolio doth this man carry onwards, to the next destination on the journey...*

Such A Small Love

Scott Walker***Once again I run my fingers through the book of audio art. Mr Walker surely has a slew of the timeless classic M.O.R. that plays out on the airwaves.

I've never cared that much for the middle of the road genre save a few of the great ; It is another enigmatic track, that Scott stretches out upon the sonic chalk board...*

John Kay

Easy Evil***I was in England a while back, hanging out with my cousin. She was a probation officer. She shared some hash with me & played me this song & I've never forgot since.

The man's a good looking fellow. Why with the sunglasses all of these years...*

I Don't Want To Hear It Anymore

Scott Walker*** I seemed to have gone through a kaleidoscope of Mr. Walker's material, as some of you may have seen.

I have drawn the line if the song in my own little humble opinion, just a bit too M.O.R ; Again as always I find Mr. Walker & his work, to be extremely overpowering. I hope that we will all have the opportunity to hear more of this magic fellow in the future...*

Loss Of Love

Scott Walker*** This cut is about as M.O.R. as I could go ; I admire Mr. Walkers' voice, but I can't seem to define any other stand up vocalist that I could put a thumb on...*
