A Hard Days Night

The Beatles***Was a truly great film at the time & holds its' originality as a classic. I wish they would re-color it as the original film was in black & white.

Notice this cut was extrapolated from Anthology one & there are subtle re-takes that most would not really be aware of, unless you were a musician of high caliber, or a producer ;

A dose more of Rickenbacker 12-string & a few less vocal harmonies in certain parts. But it holds up nicely as an alternate take, as do so much of their other out-takes do.

Their acting was amazingly natural. They were doing a lot of ad lib & just essentially being themselves, with no pretensions. They never said they were actors in any case.

There was a drop of humor & sarcasm of a political & media direction which was nice, cause it's still the same mentality even today & in America for my two cents, it's worse than Europe.

When I went down to the local movie house in the summer of 1964, I can remember ; The entire movie auditorium was screaming to a pitch that you couldn't hear that much at all. Even in a movie house. But What Do I Know Anyway...*

It's Only Love

The Beatles***What a beautiful song. How do they do it ? Can you tell this song is a Lennon composition ?

Look at the chord progressions, counterpointing the melody line. The sound of the vocals. All wrapped up in short 2-3 minute little packages of brilliance.

Did producer George Martin help ? Surely he did. Listen to early tapes before Abby Road studio & you'll see what I mean.

Then the words, the subject itself. Is there anything greater than love & it's many manifestations. Is anything in creation more powerful than true selfless love...?

Ah...But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Good Times

Chic***What a nice pleasant subtle work this is. Where has all the good music gone.

Makes me repeat the same old line : What is New is Old...What is Old is Strikingly New...*

No More Mr. Nice Guy

Alice Cooper***One of the pure initiators of the so called Glam Rock style ; & whatever other label genres you can think of.

The first time I saw him on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, my jawed dropped & I was in complete shock, for a young kid...*

Heaven's Falling

Cheap Trick***What a great American band. Sometimes I forget how accomplished they are. I especially like their more melodic material, which at moments can approach Beatle territory.

Todd Rundgren produced this album & you can tell some nuance of his subtle production touches. But it be known that this is pure Cheap Trick. There aren't any substitutes...

If I Fell

The Beatles***Who else...The masters of love in musical spirit. Will there ever be a band that comes close to what the Beatles are...?

I don't know, only God knows : & God works in mysterious ways...*

Come Undone

Duran Duran*** Personnel changes aside, I believe that the best period & album that the band has done was the one with This song & its' companion piece...Which I will post tomorrow.

They have done some remixes, if you'd like to call it that. Perhaps you might like to use the term re-issues from around 2007 or so.

I myself, feel that when Warren Cuccurullo was in as the guitar player, he completely changed their sound from something that was almost bubblegum, to something that was pure art. This song from video to composition & the whole 9 yards is a fantastic song & I think it's one of their best period.

After the great success that had with this album-[Wedding Album]- ; I think that's what it was, they kind of took a great leap backword & from that point when they first came out after this with a cover album, I again lost all interest. but What Do I Know anyway...*

Never Comes The Day

The Moody Blues***& such a melodic & melancholy sound, at times I can't listen because it gets too sad for me if it's one of those days.

But there is always a glimmer of light in the work of The Moody Blues, a silver lining so to speak ; & we hope that it will be that way in our lives also...*

You & I

Rick James***The master of punk funk ; One of many titles attributed to one of the most dynamic & talented artists that ever touched the boundaries of modern R&B & many genres to the point, they just couldn't come up with any more names. Old School is it...*

Rick's epitaph reads:
I've Had It All, I've Done It All, I've Seen It All...It's All About Love...God Is Love...*Rick James==================*

Nights In White Satin

The Moody Blues***Who else could make a style of music, when your completion is The Beatles & you're a British band yourself...; So it goes, this video is an early one from around 1967.

I can't remember how many times I listened to this song & felt about as much melancholy over love, even at that age, that the song conveys.

Off of the Days Of Future Passed album, they combined the rock element with the orchestrated element as the Beatles later works did also.

Their heavy use of the Melotron, precursor to the synthesizer, figures quite a lot in their prolific & adroit musical master-craft....*

Are You Gonna Go My Way

Lenny Kravitz***Some may say that Mr. Kravitz does a lot of retro-sounding material. So what...; At least he's playing guitar & singing with a real band.

How many can you say that of today...? Besides, he has a lot of sex appeal. Plus, I'm straight. But what Do I Know Anyway...*

New Horizons

The Moody Blues***From the Seventh Sojourn album. A beautiful track from a brilliant group ; Somehow under-rated, or perhaps that's just my own subjective perception...*

Walking On Sunshine

Katrina & The Waves***Three Brits & a Bird. A really fine song. Nice haircuts too. So, where did they go...?

Well, EMI went belly up, like the rest of them will go ; There's only three left standing. Excuse me, I went off on a tangent again. But can you believe, Capital...the label home of such bands as The Beatles-[in America]-...

The winds of time are changing & I for one am loving it. For the fans & the artists themselves. Thank you for the technology revolution. God works in mysterious ways. Or is that Waves...*

Bernadette

The Four Tops***What a great song. There was a time in music, that there was passion. So as I've said in the past...The New is Old...The Old is Strikingly New...*

A Real Mother For Ya

Johnny Guitar Watson***Once upon a time, there was music. People actually played instruments & used their voices as melodies-[Vocals]-; They even wrote music.

The Old School is it. The New is Old...The Old is Strikingly New...*

The System

Don't Disturb This Groove***This is a really fine track ; So what has Warner Brothers done for them since then...? This song came out around 1997 & I remember watching it on MTV.

What can I say...? I wish there were more bands playing real musical instruments & singing. I'm starting to sound redundant, so I'll leave it at that...*

Living Color

Cult Of Personality***What a great & powerful cut, on all levels.

So what has Sony-[Who've swallowed BMG]- ; Leaving only three-"major labels" crumbling Facade...; What have they done in the last 22 yrs. for a band that's this great...*

Never Let Me Down

David Bowie***On the Glass Spider Tour ; Having Peter Frampton on guitar, made this all a bigger & better work for the good of all mentioned.

Being best friends from school days, didn't hurt the synchronicity. Quite deeply amazed to even see Peter in this unit of time.

Mr. Bowie... what can be said. Brilliant artists are easy to spot. His amazing ability to reinvent himself always still amazes me. Godspeed Sirs...*

Supernatural Thing

Ben E. King***In the day when there was still music, in the pocket. We'd work this one out all the time. Cause it had that real Spirit thing...*

Night & Day

Al B. Sure***This is a fantastic song. It has the groove, the pocket & it's about as romantic as you might take it, without crossing the line.

This song was released in 1998 by Warner Brothers Records. So what has Warner Brothers been doing for Mr. Sure in the last 22 years ?

He's obviously a huge talent & a very handsome man. But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Can You Help Me

Jesse Johnson***This is one straight down, in the pocket, fantastic track ; From a very eclectic, magnetic & enigmatic artist...*

Words Of Love

The Beatles***This-[2009 stereo remaster]-is a beautiful version of this song. Why say more...; Warm...Real...Melodic.

Love Is The Strongest Power In The Universe...*
