David Gilmour

Breathe***From the album "Dark Side Of The Moon" ; I venture to say that Pink Floyd is David Gilmour; Along with Mr. Mason & Mr. Wright.

Mr. Gilmour's fluid & wonderous guitar playing, along with his adroit & dreamlike vocals; Pretty much says it all.

Godspeed David...*

Everybody's Talkin'

Harry Nilsson***A complex artist with the gift of the muse. Stylistically diverse, with vocal depth & arrangements hard to duplicate.

Mr. Nilsson is an enigmatic musical soul; One Of A Kind. Always a touch of melancholy & beauty & love in his prolific body of work. A true master. We Love you.Godspeed Harry...*

Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues

Danny O"Keefe***This is one melancholy song alright. It's so sad, that it could break your heart; But somehow, I have been drawn to it over the years...*

Robert Plant

Big Log***A lovely song...I prefer Mr. Plants solo works, unless one might mention "Houses Of The Holy" ; Something in this video, reminds me of myself...

Godspeed Robert...*

The Zombies

She's Not There***A slew of hits & a distinct style unto themselves. Keyboards more up front than guitars in the mix.

They have an ambiance & atmosphere of their own. A dollop of pseudo-lounge, creating a moody & dark soundscape. Riding on the wave of The Brit Invasion; An odd name, but a fine band...*

Henry Rollins

The Rollins Band : Low Self Opinion***; Mr. Rollins is a genius. A poet. An artist. A writer. A singer. A performer. He is excellent....

It is not what Henry sounds like, or the way he looks, or anything else that is superficial. It is what Mr. Rollins says & the way he says it. There's no one like him. He is a power unto himself.

Aimee Mann

Voices Carry*** is a single brilliant work of audio-art. The video is quite good also...; Why...Because it's Aimee Mann, stupid...; Well, let's see. Aimee is a great singer-composer-musician & media figure.

What is so refreshing about Ms. Mann ? Unpretentious...Yes; Gifted musically...Yes; Musically adroit...Yes; Poetic, from a lyrical standpoint...Yes; Original & Unique...Yes; Complex, enigmatic & eclectic...Yes;

She's even pretty...! Godspeed Ms. Mann...*

Neil Diamond

Solitary Man***Mr. Diamond has some vulnerable & spirited music. Some personal material that takes character to talk about. Some of Neil's stuff is to fluff for me, but he surely has the gift...*

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Ray Davies

Set Me Free***Is one example of the prolific body of work, that is of the iconoclastic enigma, Mr. Davies.

The Kinks have a noble & expansive vision in the world of music; Ray has a large legend, back in the days of The British Invasion & at this moment eternally.

Mr. Davies is a poet & singer/composer of a musical art, unique, original & unmatched.

GodSpeed Sir...*

Still You Turn Me On

Greg Lake***What can be said of an artist who has the gift to compose wonderous, sublime music. A unique & original multi-instrumentalist & singer.

Mr. Lake's audio-sonic art says it all. Godspeed Mr. Lake...*

The Byrds

I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better***is really one of those undiscovered gems.

Yet the clear perception of the band, is in the strength of Gene Clark & David Crosby. Without those two fellows, there's no Byrds. That's my two cents; Plus the first album is the best.

They initially had an American Fab Four projection of sorts back in the day. They seem to have fragmented into alternative projections I guess.

But What Do I Know Anyway...*

U2 One

One*** has got to be, one of the best songs from these gentlemen. There are many ideas as to what the lyrics are about, but suffice it to say that, it depends on the individual listener.

This video is very atmospheric, a good deal of the filming done in Berlin. Reminds me of London ;

One is a brilliant & touching work of art, on many levels...*

Godspeed Sirs...*

K.D. Lang

Constant Craving***Is such a wonderous song, because of Ms. Lang's Vox. She has one of the most beautiful, textured singing voices, that I have ever heard. This song, is a fine example of her entrancing, gorgeous style....*

Peter & Gordon

A World Without Love***What a wonderful song. Written by Lennon/McCartney. Peter Ashers' sister Jane, was going around with Sir Paul back in the day....*

The Mindbenders

A Groovy Kind Of Love***This song is rather great: As is [It's Getting Harder]*

Nothing to Wayne Fontana, but these two songs, for my two cents...have the magic. The magic is the [L] word. Love.

Having viewed The Mindbenders in the movie To Sir With Love, at the end of the flick, my curiosity got the better of me.

With lyrics like"When you're close to me, I can feel your heart beat"...or "When I kiss your lips, ooh I start to shiver; Can't control the quivering inside"; What can I say.

The enthrallment of love, is the most powerful force in the universe, or whatever you'd like to call infinity.

It's timeless music & one should not feel embarrassment of any kind. But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Tom Jones

I Who Have Nothing***Written by Ben E. King; Tom Jones does a great job on this cut.

Another song that shakes the heartbeat of the listener. High drama meets the ever evolving nature of romantic love...*

The Classics IV

Stormy*** Mr. Yost & Company ; Sometimes I remember to forget; Or is it forget to remember. Either way, this song is so moody & full of soul.Loving someone, at times really hurts; You just have to let it go; Songs like this are a rare gem, placing one in a never ending circle of hope.

So we fall down & get up again...you know. Perhaps the best thing we can do for the person that we love, is let them go. If we must stand out in the rain for the rest of eternity, it's alright. Better to have loved & lost, than not to have loved at all...*

The Bee Gees

How Do You Mend A Broken Heart ***It takes me just one song to respect & admire a musical artist. So I'll say that this tune is a wonderful work of compassion & love lost...*

It seems that I'm not the only one walking around with a broken heart all of the time. I suppose that learning to let a person go that you truly love, Is a great way to stay above the water line, whilst not drowning.

Being a so called Romantic, sure has a lot on the downside. But What Do I Know Anyway...*
