Frank Marino-Mahogany Rush

Strange Dreams***I can't say I've heard much of Mr. Marino's work, but this song, when I heard it, was a jewel from the start.

A forceful & melodic[key word M]...electric guitar, blended with a textured vocal, does this tune smooth, powerful & nice...for me...*

Tears For Fears Live

Call Me Mellow***I've always been somewhat perplexed about Mr.Orzabal & Mr. Smith. Without getting into the bands dirty laundry, we'll just say that this tune, like others, is smashing. A great unique sound layered with melodic content.

Some may say, that Mr. O's pentameter on vox is highly packed with syllables ; But that's just a subjective opinion from yours truly...; One might say it's his vocal style.

Despite all the acrimony...in the final view, these fellows are visionary & it's always a wonder to listen to their latest body of work...*

Steely Dan

King Of The World***Back in the day...I used to listen to a lot of Steely Dan. Their material was always composed & arranged well & their lyrics would make one ponder.

It seems that my tastes have changed, but this one still catches my ear...*

Happy Xmas War Is Over

John***Our souls are immortal. Death is a illusion. War is the art of destruction.

I was reading a bit on extraterrestrial civilizations the other day. In a nutshell, The higher developed beings in the cosmos, not only have higher technology, they are also higher spiritually.

They said---who would want to go down there-[earth]-; They're a bunch of savage beasts, killing each other. does the light bulb go off inside you head...*

Lovely Rita

The Beatles***I rather like the hook, which is drenched in Plate-Reverb. It's not that hard to discern who has written which parts of a song, or a song itself.

The earlier work of the band, say from around 1963-1966 or so, is what draws me like a magnet. Not to say that their body of work from 1967 onwards, is sub-par. Just a shift in design. That's my two cents...*

Three Dog Night

Out In The Country***Having read Chuck Negron's auto-biography, I have re-traced musical steps, to discover the band anew.

Actually, the band is really adept, adroit & stylized in their own unique way; The Hammond organ playing is masterful. Mr. Sneed's drum work is quite under-stated by design. He's truly a great drummer. The Guitar & Bass work fits right in the groove in a sublime fashion.

As for the singers...they're all really cool. It's obvious in my humble perspective, to say that without Mr. Negron's Vox...It's just not Two Dog Night; Chuck is the heart & soul of the band. Despite whatever personal problems he had in their heyday. He's straight edge now & I admire him to no end for being honest. No one quite like him. Mr. Negron Godspeed Sir...*

At times, the band was about the hottest act on the planet. It reminds me a bit like Van Halen without David Lee Roth; Or The Beatles without John Lennon...

Enjoy Three Dog Night at any rate...The music is timeless...*

Woman

John Lennon***Another beautiful song from a master craftsman. Words always fall short when trying to convey artistic brilliance. It must have only come from somewhere outside of Heaven & beamed down through John.

John's diversity as a composer & artist of so many mediums...is a timeless signature that changed the way planet earth revolved. Godspeed Sir...*

Mother Says

Joe Walsh***I respect & admire Mr. Walsh, for many a reason. He's an adroit axe man, a good singer & an enigmatic character; With an unusual sense of humor that mirrors the human condition. If laughter is food for the soul, how much more does casual genius affect a fan of his brand & compositional zeal.

I suppose it all flows easily for Joe. His musical flair & sense of irony, are something special indeed. The Eagles were extremely lucky to have him as a part of their band. Mr. Frey & Mr. Henley may have to take a good look at the open road & swallow their pride. How could they have gone on without the Joe factor.

Oh well... But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Mr. Rollins

Liar***This man is a pure, enigmatic, mind altering artist, in multiple dimensions of craft & medium. One need not hyperbole here.

I got hooked on the books; Mr. R stands on a stage & communicates with the live audience...[speaking gig]...? Whatever I say about Henry Rollins, defies description. One cannot label someone who is utterly unique.

Of course there's the music...Rollins Band...& other entities which for the moment, we will not mention.

Back in the day along Sunset Strip, I was into melodic bands, versus atonal, or what have you. Mr. Rollins defies all labels anyway...; Mr. Rollins. He's a true original.

Alas...But What Do I Know Anyway...*
