Living Inside Myself

Gino Vanelli***This is easy. He does not sound anything like Tom Jones. Forget the visual for a moment. The sub-titles are in Portuguese, don't sweat it, unless you can read it. He's actually Italian anyway. This video has better audio than some of the others. A tip of the hat to Mr. Vanelli's brother. He's the key-man; Boards I mean. Keyboards.

When I heard the first album, the song "People Gotta Move", was a cut. Synthesizers all over the place, which was fairly new at the time.

Now this song, I don't usually go for this type of tune. Because they're usually too mushy & when you are young & stupid, all the more so. Plus, a few times if the song was actually good, it tugs my heart-strings & I would end up drunk & in a pile of tears.

There is a feeling in this work, the man is being sincere. He & I & some of us, have all been there; Some still are. A melted puddle of candle wax. But alas, what do I know anyway...*

Björk

Human Behaviour***Enigmatic...eclectic & unique. Descriptions of her music & art flow endlessly. I find fascinating, her choice of melodies & structure; In contrast to the rest of the music.

A definite direction, that drives down whatever road is to her choosing. Words are hard to come by, so it's best just to let the sonic sensation speak for itself...*

Robert Palmer

She Makes My Day***In retrospective exploration I again find myself quite awe-struck as to Robert's body of work & hybrid of styles.

This particular song, hit me right from the first time that I heard it; Which was only a few moments ago. Its' atmosphere & compositional structure & melody are superb; Songwriter talk which simply means, I like the song. A lot. But What Do I Know Anyway...

Godspeed Robert...*

Robert Palmer

Robert Palmer is in my system; Here, an alternative video to go along with this cut sublime. I can't stop playing the track, over & over again; Locked in suspended animation.

The level of Robert's uncanny talents & stylistic nuance, it's one of the few times that a cover comes off better than the original write. But What Do I Know Anyway...*

One More River

The Alan Parsons Project***One time engineer at Abby Road; Album of same name...; The Beatles...

Back in the day, utilizing synthesizers-[at the time a new innovation]-& various singers & musicians, from album to album. I remember like it was yesterday...*

Al Green

How Do You Mend A Broken Heart***It matters not the song or the composer on one level, it's just all about Al Green's interpretation.

On a timeless plateau of delivery & emotion; Peaks & valleys...There are no others. He has carved his own classic niche...*

How Soon Is Now

The Smiths***Oh well...let's see...This one's for Mr. Marrs' great guitar riff. Other than that I draw a blank. I can't seem to digest the melodies ; Mute point, however the words are keenly astute...*

Sean Lennon

Home***From The First Album [Into The Sun] ; A cool-fused tune with visual nuance. Unique chord progressions & splashes of vocal harmony.

Mr. Lennon's work grows on you, leading to continued retrospection. There is much more here than meets the eye...; Lyrically, I wouldn't even approach that angle at this point....; Demands repeated playing...*
