The Long & Winding Road

The Beatles***This is the orchestrated version done by Phil Spector. I like both versions, with or without the added orchestra.

It's said that Paul doesn't like the orchestrated version. All I can say is this is just a beautiful song by a brilliant Recording Artist/Composer.

But, What Do I Know anyway...*

The Word

The Beatles***Off of Rubber Soul, light years away from anyone, even in the present time, a time-less message. John's work, written all over the cut. who does it better...*

A nice use of seventh chords with an extra note thrown in, perhaps an augmented 6th or something, for those who understand such technical talk. To most, probably a bore ; Brilliant as usual.

Will there ever be another band that can come close ? Only God knows...*

The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Any More

Mr. Scott Walker is a brilliant Singer/Composer; First recognized in Britain, before America, like-(Jimi Hendrix)- ;

He's one of the most under-rated artists of modern music. A man with a 30th century vision...*

I have felt many times, in the way that the lyrics are describing Love & its' many faces. Sometimes, when you lose someone, you feel like there's no reason to live anymore.

The feeling is so overwhelming ; Especially if you're dealing with unrequited love. However, there are more fish in the ocean.

Sometimes one might find, that a break-up or divorce can be used as a catalyst for growth & a deep love, one that eclipses the previous experience. I know. I've been there lots of times like you have...*

I Love You Wherever You are

Sharon Valentine Rex***A rising star with an enigmatic sonic-pallette of audio-visual colors. A prolific body of work that defies genre labels.

More so a unique & gifted original Multi-Instrumentalist ; A wide ranging Vocalist & Composer.

Ms. Rex arrives with an eclectic spirit & ability to Resurrect & cross-pollinate musical styles.

At times atmospheric & ethereal, Ms. Rex's diverse melodic abilities are magnetic & hypnotic. A supernatural artist on the meridian of the global music world...*

Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me

U2***Official live performance .This was in 1998. The (Popmart Tour)-South American leg. That blows my mind. But, what would one expect from a band of this caliber. A bit of analog fuzz visually & sonically, but you get the impact & God knows what it sounded like if you were right there.

I saw them at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles around 1980. I knew from that moment, they were going to be utterly huge. Just a feeling, you know...

For that matter, other than The Beatles, tell me how many bands can rise up to this kind of a level that U2 has. They are so far along in their sonic-art, it's a hard band to top. What an incredible band.

But What Do I Know anyway ...*

The Beautiful Ones

Prince & The Revolution***What a masterful piece of art. For me it's about the best song he has ever done. With such a prolific body of work, it's hard to say this song or that song.

I wish he'd get back together with Wendy & Lisa on a project. It had to have been one of the higher points of his career apex.

Of course when speaking of Prince, there is no apex, he just constantly re-invents himself. What a brilliant artist...*

Nothing's Ever Gonna Change So Fast

Dwight Twilley*** I love Dwight Twilley. I loved him when he & Phil Seymour were the band. I love them both. Because that are great timeless artists.

Mr. Twilley has to be one of the most under-rated bands in modern music. You might wonder why Mr. Twilley is not as huge as he deserves to be in America & around the world ?

I will spell it out for you ; So called-[major]-labels of the time. Payola, Politics & Nepotism. Did I say That ? Once a time there were about three dozen-[majors]-labels. Now there are three.

Let's just leave it to the technology revolution. Dwight Twilley's body of work is brilliant. But What Do I Know Any...*

You Showed Me

The Turtles***A better rendition than the fellow who wrote it=[Roger McGuinn]-(Byrds) ; When the Turtles came out with this rendition, I think it was & is a timeless classic. I think the song was TheTurtles best cut. At the very least, one of them. The mood, the arrangement, the vocals. the whole production.

When Mr. McGuinn saw where the song went on the charts, He attempted a second recording of the song. To say the least it's mediocre at best. Odd how a songwriter can deliver a great song & then not have the recording chops to turn the thing into a hit.

That's what The Turtles did. So I hope the writing royalties were fine for Roger ; I hope that the Turtles made a big hunk off of the record royalties...*

Love Will Conquer All

Lionel Ritchie***A beautiful song with great lyrics. The production is crisp & it's as good now, as it was when it was originally released.

For me, this is my favorite song from Mr. Ritchie. It plays right into my own life & grabs it by the heart. A good song can do that, when the spirit of the music is real...*

She Talks In Stereo

Gary Myrick & The Figures***A great talent, a great guitarist & a great voice. He composes, does guitar work for john Waite on his # 1;-[Missing You]-Yeah, that's Mr. Myrick

A saw him many times on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. His band was tight. This cut is live from the Ritz in New York.

He's re-released on an independent; You should check him out. His music sounds better than most of what passes for music these days. The New is Old...The Old is Strikingly New...*

From The Beginning

Greg Lake***His music is like a master craftsman at work. An acoustic 12-string guitar & a beautiful voice, who is able to come up with music as sublime & wondrous.

I've never heard anything like him. He's a one of kind Brilliant musical artist.

Godspeed Sir...*

Color Of Success

Morris Day***What a fine funk of a funking mother funking cut. The original video was hot, but I can't seem to find the spot ; The vamp on this tune, added synthesizers, makes it so much hotter. Like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

I'm rather surprised that Mr. Day has not increased his world wide fan-base in music & film. God knows he has the talent. Never count Morris out. But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Now tell me, who has the funk & who does not...*

Kiss From A Rose

Seal***From the Batman soundtrack #, I don't know, I've lost track. a beautiful song on every level.

Timeless & open to subjective impact from each listener, in their own way. Godspeed sir...;*

Meant To Live

Switchfoot***This is a brilliant song...; That's my two cents anyway.

Illuminating lyrics...Great melodic hook utilizing both major & minor chord progressions ; A Presence of Spirit...

Godspeed Sirs...*

When It's Over

Loverboy***This particular tune has a deep undercurrent ; These Canadian gentleman are to the senses, more than one might imagine. This song is so good, it's not even funny.

It's not an 80's thing, retro or otherwise. It's the sheer atmosphere of the song. The had some lousy business go down on the corporate side in typical "major label"fashion. Read all about it in the book about then CBS Records & CEO Walter Yentakoff.

This was before technology...All I can say is you can't keep a great Canadian band down...*

E ku'u Morning Dew

Keola Beamer*** POLYNESIA ポリネシア TAHITI タヒチ BORABORA ボラボラ島 サモア クリスマス島 音楽曲

This song is of beauty eternal. Love towards infinity. The endless journey onwards to home. Of Paradise. Of Nirvana. Towards the Creator. Forever.

Of immortality, is the soul. A drop of spirit, of Morning Dew, in suspended animation. Children of time & space. Courage comes by Faith. Faith is given by Grace.

By Love alone are all things of Alpha & Omega. By Love...The strongest power in the universe...*

Fly Like An Eagle

Steve Miller Band***I think this is about the best song Mr. Miller has ever come up with. He has an independent streak that is admirable & I respect him as a musician & composer. Besides that he has a pleasing melodic vocal style.

I can't say that I've listened to a lot of his work, but I do plan to in the future.

The use of the synthesizers, all the more from the tech period that was available ; All I can say is that's some really cool stuff, the digital delay or whatever analog equivalent they were using at the time, is grand. So too with the Hammond Organ utilization.

A fine arrangement all around, makes this song a timeless-[as in not sounding dated]-crafty piece of ear candy. Godspeed Sir...*

Later

Cat Stevens*** Off the album Foreigner, this song for me has to be at the very least, one of the best songs this Man has ever done.

I couldn't find it for years. I had it on vinyl back in the day. Walked in the record shop & saw this nice beach scene ; The front cover was even more pretty, as beach shots go. Blue-green ocean.

On that cover alone, I bought the album. I sometimes did stupid things like that & usually had to take the thing back.Payed $3.33-US. We're talking round mid to late seventies.

What a wondrous work of sonic art. Give yourself a treat & listen to this unorthodox composition, it's beauty & subtle love power...*

Surrender

Cheap Trick*** A great American band, a great global feat. Harmonies stacked alongside walls of guitar. It must have been nice in Japan... Highly underrated...But What Do I Know Anyway...*

Mr. Zander...Mr. Nielsen...Mr. Carlos & Mr. Petersson...Godspeed Sirs...*

Now

The Plimsouls***Back in the day, it might as well have been yesterday. Ones' street education in the music clubs of Hollywood was an intrigue of phenomena.

Be it the Sunset Strip…or Westside...; It seemed an enticing time for music & the original-[New Wave]-of the latter 1970's through the mid 1980's; Wherein it submerged, lost to the vision of a British/American musical juggernaut.

One of the first live bands that I heard were The Plimsouls over at the Starwood on the eastern end of The Sunset Strip. It was probably Peter Case's sunglasses at night & the right haircut to boot.

When we fell in for a listen, the acoustics of the place, coupled with the sheer decibel of wattage going though the miked house system, all left me with a deaf ringing in my ears & not much else that I could decipher.

After the six-pack plus of beer & other side distractions, be they chemical or female, I was left with a sprite hangover to go with the next day of supplemental income known as the straight gig.ah…but I stray.

This song really did do its trick on the listener. As days of future past, the machinations of the music industry before computers really took its toll on all things of talent, whilst perpetuating all audio-forms that were like silly putty. Easily manipulated & molded for consumer digestion & disposable income niche market demographics. Alas, I wander off again on another tangent.

Peter Case still has the magic touch...* Godspeed Sir…*

Until You Come BackTo Me

Aretha Franklin***Tip of the hat to Stevie Wonder & his brilliance as a composer & recording artist. This song is one of those that just grabs me by the heart & pulls at my heart-strings until I am reduced to ruble.

Her voice & pure soul are so natural it is supernatural. This song is a brilliant piece of work on so many levels.

From Production to Vox-[vocals] ; From sincerity of the heart-breaking realization that although you truly love somebody, they just don't seem to love you, in quite the same way.

Be it passion, self- less unconditional love, or just the realization that your love as strong & true as it is, just doesn't seem to fit with your object of desire.

Thus comes the melancholy & bittersweet realization, that you lover does not really feel the same way about you as you do about her-(him).

Such are the trials & tribulations of human love. You know that you truly completely love this person, but for some reason that perhaps only the supernatural power knows, it just might not be meant to be. So are the fortunes of love.

Better to have loved & lost, than to not love at all. In the end, if you truly have faith in a power above yourself, perhaps some day, you will find the true object of your infinite desire.

While you're at it, don't ever get confused between love & lust. It will bring you endless suffering until you realize the point.

But What Do I Know About Love Anyway...*

Shadow Boxer

Fiona Apple***She's one of a kind. They threw away the mold. Though she does show some pretty obvious influences like for one instance, She got the blues. She is impossible to label.

She has a very eclectic body of work & you never know what she might come up with next. But she is totally an original. A chantuese one might say at times. Even an old school torch ballad if she's in the mood.

From the business aspect she is obviously very sauve & sees right through the machinations of the old Label's crumbling Facade. She's very cunning & bewitching.World weary & in the know.

Her character is such that with all she's gone through already, she is further along in her wisdom of the this planet's modus operandi. She is not scared in the least to show her vulnerability & she seems quite starkly at times overtly honest.

But I'm no shrink. I do have one, but he doesn't do much of anything for me considering the money he's making. I sometimes feel a love-hate attraction to her artistry. I'm not too concerned with her naughty side & such...I deal with that everyday anyway. it happens all the time.

May she fly in the wings of Angels & powers above & beyond this world into areas that I will choose to call the supernatural. She's musically capable of anything. But What Do I Know Anyway...*
